March 27, 2012 -- Updated 1255 GMT (2055 HKT)
Another natural disaster has struck the earth once
again. A 6.0-magnitude of earthquake shook eastern Japan last Tuesday. The
quake struck off the east coast of Honshu at 8 p.m. local time with the focus
estimated to be 10 kilometres below sea level, the USGS said. The epicentre
was about 316 miles from the capital, Tokyo. A smaller, 4.9-magnitude
quake hit about 40 minutes earlier with 71 miles centre. In Miyako City,
no report of injuries or damage there and quake seemed to last for about 40
seconds. However, for protective measures, locals are advised to stay cautious
at this terrible time because authorities are expecting more earthquakes to
come.
